About BICA

How to become a member

In accordance with the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants Act, 2015 (The BICA ACT, 2015), to become a member of BICA you must:

(a) have attained the age of eighteen years;

(b) be of good character;

(c) submit an application, in the prescribed manner with payment of the prescribed fee, for approval by the Council

(d) be a member in good standing of an approved institute (please refer to the The BICA ACT, 2015 for the definition of approved institute) or

(e) have satisfied the academic and professional requirements for admission to membership in an approved institute;

(f) show to the satisfaction of Council that you have the approved accountancy experience
(g) have passed such prescribed examinations as the Council may require; and

(h) satisfy such other requirements as may be prescribed.

Any person referred to above shall satisfy Council that he is a citizen of The Bahamas or is a permanent resident whose permanent residence certificate permits him to engage in gainful occupation; or in possession of a valid work permit.
