Restoration of Membership/Licence

The Council may, at any time upon application in writing by any person whose name has been removed from the register or whose licence has been suspended or revoked, determine, it it thinks fit, that such person’s name shall be restored to the register or, that his licence be restored or the suspension cease as the case may be, with effect from such date as the Council may appoint.

The following procedure should be adhered to in order to be restored to the register of members of the Bahamas Institute of Charted Accountants in accordance with the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountant’s Act, 2015 (the Act).

An application for Restoration of Membership under section 29 of the Act shall –

  1. be in the Form as set out in Form 11 of the First Schedule
  2. be supported by letters from –
    1. two members to whom the applicant is known, where the application is for the restoration to the register of the name of a member or an associate; or
    2. two public accountants to whom the applicant is known, where the application is for the restoration or cessation of suspension of a licence or for the restoration to the register of the name of a licensee;
  3. be accompanied with the fee specified in the Second Schedule
  4. be supported with satisfactory evidence of the required continuing professional development hours; and
  5. be supported by a police record not more than three months old.

The name of a person shall not be restored to the register until any outstanding fees due the Institute have been paid.
